Kinara Restaurant Review

So I heard a lot about this place called Kinara. Decided to go there with my friends. It’s located on the highway near Mira Road. Say  10-15 min drive from the Dahisar check naka.

On entering the restaurant I felt like I’ve entered a Village. The setup was awesome. A small Pan Shop, a Game stall, a Jalebi stall etc. all located within the restaurant setup. A live band was present as well that churned out old Hindi Numbers on request.

We decided to settle in the tree house (Machaan) as it gave our group privacy. The service was prompt however the lighting in the tree house could have been better. They had to light a mosquito coil as there were a fair amount of mosquitos. The food was priced little on the higher side however the drinks were reasonably priced.

The food was So- So, nothing exception. The Cheese tikka had cheese cubes with some masala spread on it. Something that you can make at home without much hassle. The Chinese food was good. The Indian food however was not up to the mark. The Chicken Aftabi had all Chicken and no Aftab. Kinda felt like I was eating nice chunks of boiled chicken.

After the war the damages came upto 4700/- for a group of five. Three out of the five were drinkers so I think it was quite a decent amount. Go there if you care for ambience and privacy more than food.

Overall Score: 3.5/5

Sardar Pav Bhaji review

They say, you haven’t seen Mumbai if you haven’t been to Sardar Pav Bhaji. So, I decided that I had to go. I entered the restaurant with 4 of my friends on a rainy day. What struck me was the simple setup. Nothing fancy, just like a roadside veg restaurant with No AC :-P.

We ordered for the Pav Bhaji with lots of pavs. The waiter gave us some roasted papad to chew on until he got our orders. I must say I didn’t expect 5 star service but it did take a long time for our Pav Bhajo to arrive (almost 30 mins).  Mind you the restaurant was only half full. We had to remind the waiter atleast three times about our order. Surely he seemed  more interested in the weather outside that in our order.

When the Bhaji arrived I expected it to be piping hot but it was luke warm (WTF!!! What was he doing all this time). The thing that stood out was the butter. A big blob of butter was dropped over the Bhaji, which was really an awesome sight. The Bhaji was OK, nothing I haven’t tasted before (So much for the hype). The butter was what gave the taste. The pavs were also soaked it butter, which was really tasty but not suitable for the calorie conscious.  Overall strictly Ok  food

I must say that the rates at Sardar Pav Bhaji are really reasonable. The five of us devoured 5 pav Bhajis with 10-12 additional pavs + Soft drinks + lots of left overs. The bill came up to 680 which was really neat. Will recommend this place only for a one time visit.
